How StaffHawk works

The three building blocks of StaffHawk — companies, jobs and shifts — and the order to set them up.

StaffHawk is built from three things that stack in a fixed order: Company → Jobs → Shifts. Once that clicks, everything else in the app makes sense.

1

Company

Your business. It's the top level that holds your workers, clients, billing and settings. You create a company once, and it's the first thing to set up — nothing else can exist without it.

2

Jobs

A jobis a place and schedule of work — for example “Night security — 12 George St” or “Morning clean — Riverside Café”. It holds the location, the check-in rules (GPS, photo, kiosk), the pay/charge rate, and the schedule. There are two kinds:

One-time jobs

Work that happens once or a few ad-hoc times.

Rostered jobs

Ongoing work you schedule week to week (recurring).

3

Shifts

A shift is one worker assigned to a job at a specific time. You create shifts by adding workers to a job (directly, or onto a roster). Workers then accept the shift and check in and out from the app or an on-site kiosk.

A shift always belongs to a job — which is why you create the job first.

The order to get running

  1. 1Create your company.
  2. 2Create a job (one-time or rostered).
  3. 3Add workers to it — this creates their shifts.

From there you publish the roster, workers get notified, and you track attendance, invoicing and payroll from the same job.
